  • Are You Undocumented?

    Posted in: Inspiration

Everyone has an interesting point of view on social media. Most can agree that it’s full of oversharing. But what if you’re not sharing enough? Many people opt out of the social media obsession because they don’t want their photos or “business” splashed across the internet for anyone to stumble upon. But has your lack of social media usage left you undocumented?

  • Don’t Forget To Say ‘I Love You’

    Posted in: Inspiration

    by Sylvia Ford- Geroge

We have an elderly neighbor who’s the unofficial town watch for our block, walking the neighborhood numerous times a day accompanied by one of his two dogs (he walks them separately) as he assesses the neighborhood, touching base with neighbors, and generally making us feel good that he’s on the job and all is well. Morning to night, no matter the season or weather, John is out there providing surveillance and making us feel safe. Until the day John went missing.

  • Making a Commitment

    Posted in: Inspiration

To reap the benefits you desire you have to commit to the process. Making a commitment in any area of your life is the first step to success. Usually the reason people don’t commit is because there is a looming  fear of failure. What if I commit to this and I fail?

  • Motivation From Knowing It’s Not Yours

    Posted in: Inspiration

We’re all so obsessed with our lives. We compare our lives to others, take classes to improve our lives, and talk about our lives on the daily. But in reality a lot of us are motivated by things that don’t matter. Degrees, money, and titles don’t mean much when you realize that your life is not your own. We were all sent to this earth to fulfill a purpose. A purpose that is greater than ourselves (and our ego) and once we step out of the place of thinking this life is for us, we will ditch the need for accolades and appearances and do what is necessary for a higher purpose.

  • The Have-Tos That Come With The Wants-Tos

Posted in: Dream Building, Inspiration, Self-Improvement

I’m in the midst of a change and as exciting as it is…I’m stressed. New job, new city, new apartment, and a new love…all at once. Have I lost it? Or am I about to gain something I could never even imagine having? To be honest I’m never 100% sure. One day it’s this and one day it’s that. I have to be honest when I say I’m scared out of my mind. It’s not so much what I want to do…but more so all that I have to do, to get to what I want.

  • Keeping Up With Yahoo!

    Posted in: Inspiration

I’m in love with watching the transformation of Yahoo. I know most people could actually care less, but if you’re a female you need to take note of what Marissa Mayer is doing. She recently became CEO of the company and men have been bashing her ever since. It started with her decision not to take a long maternity leave (which would never have been a problem if she was working for them). But her decision making and talent selections are closing the mouths of her critics. She has undoubtedly made it a pleasure for any female interested in business to watch her rebrand and reposition the company. Let me tell you why she’s great.

  • How To Get Started Living Your Dream Life

Posted in: Inspiration, Life Architect, Self-Improvement

    by Dream Guider

As a Dream Guider probably the hardest part of working with a new client is the beginning. Clients have trouble with the first step— commitment. Committing to your dream is not an easy task. There is a lot of fear that arises when you are actually forced to stop dreaming and start doing. Is it going to really happen? What will people think? Will I fail? What if this isn’t what I really want to do? These questions are normal. There will be many obstacles to overcome when you start your dream, and this is the first. Here’s how to overcome your initial trepidation.

  • Inspiring Tweens To Think Twice About What They Type

    Posted in: Inspiration

I teach a class called Queens In Training to a group of 12 year olds at my church. I have to say- it’s been a journey these past few months. My class size got smaller, some of the girls were negative, I could see cliques forming, and I was getting a little frustrated. But I felt like it was a good time to break out the self-esteem lesson because I feel for young girls (and all girls, really), and self-esteem is probably the most important lesson that’s not always taught. My goal for the class was to build their self-esteem and teach them how media affects their self esteem. As always with a group of 12 yr olds…you end up walking away with a little more than you bargained for.

  • What Its Like To Fail At Landing A Million Dollar Investment

    Posted in: Inspiration, Life Architect

What a lot of people don’t know is that this site, in combination with a few basic (and cheesy) photoshoots, was created years ago as a way to illustrate a component of a larger idea I was pitching to venture capitalists. At 25 years old I was sitting across from investors pitching an idea that I believed would change the way young women perceived their role in society. I went hard to find mentors, create a business plan, and get in front of investors, only to be turned down. I never went so hard at something in my life only to hear “no”.

  • Why You Shouldn’t Care About What You Don’t Have

    Posted in: Inspiration

The “Hows your day?” text creeps out of me around 2:30pm. My intention is to get a 30 min text convo to break up my day while challenging my phone’s autocorrect and my multitasking abilities. Lately it seems people are autoprogrammed to reply something negative about their day. We all do it.
